Lots of tires were killed during the event, and the air was thick with their remains. The clouds sting your eyes and flair the nostrils, inspiring unwanted errectio…. um joy? TXDF by StatusWorks shows that they are a true drift competitions for those that want to take a bite at Lone Star Drift or just want to destroy tires and slide their cars across the track.
With a total of 6 Pro-AM rounds and 6 TXSL rounds, Lone Star Drift has just about reached that halfway point where the points race is starting to get a lot more urgent. If that wasn’t dramatic enough, Aaron Losey
exercises blatant irresponsibility sweetens the honey pot by giving children dangerous weapons adding to the round’s prize pool two ridiculously cool custom swords as trophies. If that doesn’t get tires smoking then drifters are more mature than I thought.
This time of year is wonderful. For the parts of the country that thaws out on time, it’s the season for race cars. Yes indeed, this past weekend was the kickoff For Lonestar Drift’s 2014 series. A-kon 2013 in Dallas Texas was, by far, the largest and most packed convention I have ever been to. In fact, I hear through the grape vine that it was the 2nd largest anime convention in the US to date. There were lines over 3 hours long for each event every day of the con, with The dealer’s room and the artist alley both managing to exceed even that. Every where you went you could smell the scent of too many bodies packed too closely together.
