I’ve been back in the United States for a little over two years now. Previously, the only competitive drifting I had seen in person was the occasional stuff held by the local Guam boys at our fresh little skid pad in Yigo, and that seemed to be a once in a blue moon thing. Once I got over to the mainland, I was able to fanboy over a bunch of fancy skid chariots on an absurdly regular basis. It’s gotten me kinda lazy as I now realize that I’ve never had to even leave the state to get satiated. Cue NODRFT’s End of Year Bash.

Travel 5 hours for one day with my fragile new camera in 110% chance of cold ass rain? Ya Goddamn right.

I love to make jokes about how I use my Canon 1D2n as a walk around camera body. It’s so large and imposing that its presence borders on being lewd. Getting around sub menus is an inefficient affair requiring both of your hands and some purpose to your presses. Its sensor isn’t even that amazing by today’s standards. What was a heavy hitter in 2005 now only manages to fall in line behind Canon’s current prosumer series in matters of noise and tone.

Well, the old girl (operating Nickname, “Black Steel in the Hour of Chaos”) finally kicked the bucket after I toted all 3 lb’s of her noisy goodness around all night at Mayday Garage’s Ricer Wednesday. Enjoy her final set, yeah?

Newsflash: I love art. CJ loves art. Wayne loves art. If we didn’t, god help us run this blog. I’d like to think that everyone loves art to some capacity. It’s got to be a very human trait to appreciate aesthetics and be emotionally affected just by how things look. Luckily, we live in Houston where you can literally find something lovely on any given street corner at some point. (that was not a joke about prostitutes)
