After 86 Day Meet (Hosted by Mayday Garage)

Almost 13 years to this day I had bought my first new car when I picked up a Raven Black 2013 Scion FR-S from a dealership in Galveston, TX. I had just gotten back to Texas after a 3 year stay on Guam, and I had been playing with the FT86 Prototype on Gran Turismo 5 for a better part of the last year of it. There was not a doubt in my mind that this sleek RWD sport compact had to be a part of my life as soon as I touched down. I never would have imagined how big that part of my life the 86 was going to take up.

After picking up my FR-S (called the 86 elsewhere), I was in love. Pardon my French, but the car fuckin’ rules. Using any excuse to drive it anywhere, I started this very photo blog (THAT YOU ARE READING RIGHT NOW) with the car as both the figurative and literal vehicle that took me to events and on adventures. A couple months into ownership I would finally be exposed to the Houston Drift Scene where after an early breakfast meet with a bunch of Houston’s AE86 enthusiasts, I cruised with them down to Lone Star Drift’s final round of their 2012 Season. I would never financially recover from this decision.

Fast forward past many car clubs, meets, drift shenanigans and road trips, I ended up losing that car I loved a few years ago to unavoided road debris (skill issue). This led to letting this little blog languish as a result of not really wanting to be anywhere without my 86, but when I saw Mayday Garage wanted to host a post 86 Day car meet, something compelled me to swing by and see what I had been missing all these years. Had a great time checking out everyone’s stuff and it was nice to see a bunch of old friends. I brought a camera of course. Check the gallery below for a bunch of grainy flix shot with a 16mm prime lens.

Oh, right, I forgot to mention I have a (GR)86 again and the car fuckin’ rules. Adventures to follow??QUESTIONMARK?
