Lone Star Drift 2021: One Last GGP Post

It’s been almost 4 years to the day that I had last been to Gulf Greyhound Park. GGP had become such a given presence on this page that I didn’t even bother uploading that 2017 Photo Set here directly. If you go back through the 8ish years of my motorsports coverage for Strange Rhythms you’ll find that the majority of drift events are at GGP Sportsland by large. We even have to give our beloved 3rd gear parking lot a cute nickname to deflect some of its mundanity. However, ladies and gentleman, we’ve reached the end of an era. In regards to drifting, motorcycle safety courses or just being a big ass parking lot used for everything but that, Gulf Greyhound Park will be making no more appearances here as they finally shut their doors.

A few years back I had to really take a step back from posting motorsports coverage on here because it was easily out pacing the rest of the content and skewing the StrangeRhythms brand. I mean, I’m not oblivious to our unintentional SEO results. Aside from “cosplay girls” and “ren-faire boobs” the search engine terms that fuels the site’s traffic are usually Texas drifting queries.

Speaking frankly, the boys and I started the site to get deeper access to industry events and conventions of all types, but it eventually got kind of exhausting fueling the media machine to maintain or even take advantage of the privileges.

So here we are again, back after 4 years and will probably have to start some more assignments to bury that last paragraph. Why mask off only to post more Lone Star Drift at good old GGP like we’ve done a dozen times before?

Love of the game.

It would have been so sick to big dick it and end the post there, but honestly I just wanted to go see my old drift buddies at the place I learned the most about motorsports photography. I’m the defacto editor in chief so I get to write my own doctor’s notes on professionalism.

On top of all that, I’m kind of late with sharing photos of the event to be totally honest. The Lone Star Drift Guys are already in Washington doing Drift Week shenanigans and these Round 1 flicks are nearly a month old as of this writing- but is that really so long ago if I still have tan lines from a Gulf Coast sun burn? Hell, if I kick the aero on my car at the right angle it’ll still drop GGP Pebbles in my garage.

Whatever. Good luck finding your car in the galleries. ❤
